The drum is a sacred instrument that invokes the heart and speaks a universal language. It invites us to travel more deeply into our hearts and to the universal beat that connects all life. The rhythmic heartbeat of the drum is at the center of ceremonies held by people all over the world. The shamanic drum is used to communicate with the Spirit and to connect our hearts with the heartbeat of the Earth. It is a powerful medicine that heals the body, heart, mind, and spirit.
In this workshop we will first come together Friday evening at 7pm and gather in a powerful opening ceremony to align our intentions and paint and decorate the wooden frames of our drums with your personal power colors, animal totems, prayers and symbols.
Saturday Morning we will gather at 10 am and FreeDom Flowers will offer a Cacao Ceremony to assist in opening our hearts & connecting to the prayerful process of creating a drum.
After our Cacao Ceremony we will spend the rest of the day tying our drums. We will take a break and share a delicious vegetarian lunch provided by our local chefs.
We will be making one-sided hand drums, using wooden frames made of maple and elk, deer or buffalo hide, and sinew. There is an option to dye your drum hide with Indigo plant dye.
The creation of the drum is a very deep prayer and ceremony. With the support of Cacao in raising our vibration, we will work with our drums as a visioning meditation for our lives and our paths, so that our thoughts and intentions remain in a high vibration as we create the drums and through that process they become part of the drums. Making your own personal drum is a sacred journey and the power of making something like this with your own hands is incredible, it becomes an extension of your own heart & mind.
To close, you will have the option to join us Sunday evening at 6:30PM for a song circle & fire ceremony. You will bring your drum to bless with under the sun, moon, and stars at the altar with the fire and our prayers.
