Mama's Lemon & Lavender Digestive Bitters.
I recently wrote a guide on the benefits of Digestive Bitters (8 Benefits of Digestive Bitters. A Guide.). I have been giving Bitters to clients since I began doing consultations three years ago and (thus far) have had wonderful results every time! This category of herbs is amazingly beneficial for proper body function, specifically the digestive system.
Many times people think they have too much stomach acid and they dampen it down with antacids and PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitors). Many times this further exacerbates the issue because the real problem isn't that there is too much acid, it is that there is not enough! This mistake can be made because the symptoms tend to be similar.
I always keep Digestive Bitters in our kitchen for my family to use before meals, when someone has heartburn, or to ease gas and bloating. Recently I attempted to make my own batch of Digestive Bitters. This is a Meyer Lemon and Lavender batch that I used from a recipe that I altered to my liking and I am very happy with the results! I am going to play around this week to see if I can come up with an aperitif to serve this in at my herbal dinner party this summer! Have you ever made Bitters or a unique aperitif with your Bitters? If so, please comment. I would love to hear more about it!
