Honey & Coconut. A Lip Butter.

Honey Coconut Lip Butter! That’s right! Can you even handle how amazing that sounds?! Well I can assure you that it tastes even better on your lips than you’d imagine and it’s hard not to eat it right out of the tin!

When I originally made this, it was soft and didn’t solidify as much as I would have liked so I decided to find a different use for them. It tasted so lovely and was a nice consistency for massage cream that I thought, “I should give these to friends to use with their husbands, wives, or lovers!” It can be used as a Honey Coconut Love Butter for couples in their playful, intimate moments together! Unless, of course, your husband is allergic to honey, like mine! In which case Honey Coconut Love Butter is not a good idea....it really could kill the mood!

I will share both versions of this  recipe with you so you can decide which you’d prefer! Either way, I think you are going to love it! The Honey Coconut Lip Butter makes great gifts for birthdays and holidays!

I got all of my ingredients (except the local honey) from one of my favorite suppliers Mountain Rose Herbs. I’ve been ordering from them since the mid to late 90’s and have always had only wonderful experiences with their products. Everything is quality and they make sure that strong ethical and sustainable standards are met. Not to mention. I have worked closely with them as a sponsorship coordinator for a few herbal conferences that I’ve helped with and they have ALWAYS taken care in giving back to positive causes! I know I’m talking them up pretty high here but seriously, they are a solid and stand up company that I fully  endorse. If you make this lovely recipe, go ahead over to their page and order your supplies with them. I have no doubt that you will be pleased!

The tins I use for the lip butter are here. If you opt for making the love butter, these jars are great!

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in your double boiler and cook on low heat until everything is just melted.

  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 minutes or so.

  3. Then whisk your mixture With your fork or whisk for 30 seconds every couple of minutes for 20 minutes. If you prefer, put your mixture in an old blender and pulse for 5 seconds 3x. The latter is more messy but does seem to mix it nicer, in my opinion. (This will combine your lipid and water soluble ingredients.)

  4. Pour your mixture into your tins/bottles and allow to set over the next 24 hours. If you want to do this more quickly, you can put the tins/bottles in the refrigerator for a couple of hours to make it set faster.

  5. This mixture will naturally be harder in cooler temperatures and softer in warmer temperatures due to the coconut butter.

  6. Store at room temperature and use within one year

  7. ENJOY!!
